Shkodër, 2021
Rozafa Castle is in the prefecture of Shkodër, a region in the north of Albania. The site was occupied as from the ninth century B.C., passing through Illyrian and Roman domination. Its current conformation is mainly due to changes made by the Venetians and later by the Ottomans who occupied the town in 1479. Inside the castle are the remains of St Stephen’s Church, which was converted into a mosque during the Ottoman occupation.
